As she blurred by, her face was overexposed and washed in greyscale sunlight. And in the grainy details, for the briefest of moments, we locked eyes and just before her head turned away, I saw a smile. In that fleeting moment, my world was illuminated. All at once, I stood witness to everything that was good and true. Just as quickly and unexpected as it had arrived, with the rotation of her head, that radiance was replaced with black and once again my world had fallen into night.
